Bud was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, successful businessman, avid fisherman, and loyal LSU fan. Of all the roles he held throughout his life, none meant more to him than his family.
In 1962, Bud married the love of his life, Kathleen “Skipper” Milano Martine. Together, they shared nearly 64 years of marriage, built a family, and created a lifetime of memories.
Bud is survived by his loving wife, Skipper; his daughters, Julie Martine and Dana (William) Clouatre; his sons, Barry (Sheree) Martine, Shawn (Renee) Martine, and Keith (Sherry) Martine; and his sister, Carol Long. He was the proud grandfather of Kayla (Ashley) Bourgeois, Anna Gore, Heidi Gore, Casey (Jessica) Clouatre, Dustin (Blair) Clouatre, Mason (Gabrielle) Clouatre, Reagan Martine, Rhett Martine, Amanda (Kade) Sheets, Brady (Christyn) Martine, Corrie Martine, Kelsi (Reed) Babin, and McKenzie Martine, and was blessed with 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Martine and Ida Chauvin Martine, and his sister, Virginia Leger.
Bud was the owner of Ernest Martine, Inc. Trucking, where he spent many years building and operating the family business. He was a hardworking man who understood the importance of determination, responsibility, and providing for his family.
Bud enjoyed fishing and cheering on his LSU Tigers, but his greatest enjoyment came from being with his family. He especially loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and rodeos and took great pride in their accomplishments. Whether at family gatherings, ballgames, rodeos, or simply spending time together, Bud was happiest surrounded by those he loved.
Above all, Bud was a great dad and a wonderful grandfather. His greatest legacy is his family—the five children, 13 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren who will carry forward the values, stories, traditions, and love he gave them.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Visitation will be Monday, August 17, 2026, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Darrow, LA, beginning at 8:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 AM, with a Committal Service to follow at Hope Haven on Hwy 30 in Gonzales, LA.
