Charles William Riley was born January 3, 1992, in Baton Rouge, LA. Charlie enjoyed the outdoor adventure in the woods and bayous surrounding his home in St. Amant. His love for the outdoors put a smile on his face. Charlie grew up fishing every lake and bayou he could find and hunted squirrels out of every tree he walked under. He enjoyed playing baseball and building bonfires on the levee with his family. Charlie joined the U.S. Navy as an airman aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in Norfolk, VA, achieving the rank of Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Third Class (SW).
Deputy Riley served over six years with Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office, serving the East Bank of Iberville Parish during that time as a uniformed patrolman. He served his community with compassion. He received the Outstanding Bearing Award for professional appearance and attitude in 2020 and received a letter of commendation for saving the life of a gunshot victim on June 26, 2021, He was also the recipient of the Top Gun award in 2024 for his department. Deputy Riley enjoyed bringing his smile to the children and students around East Iberville Parish schools.
