

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want… Psalms 23. C.K. is now abiding with his great and loving shepherd. A loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, C.K. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 81, a longtime resident of Gonzales, La and a native of Roseland, La. C.K. served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. C.K. worked at Allied Chemical and Ormet Corporations, and retired from Ormet as a supervisor, with 30 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the loves of his life.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Gloria Fay Loyd Smith; one daughter, Cynthia Kay and husband Thomas Sambola; five sons, Ronald Wayne and wife Anh, David Allen, Kenneth Ray and wife Cheryl, Steven “Smut” Lloyd and wife Liz, and Daniel Wade and wife Julie; 14 grandchildren, Daerneth, Scottie, Alison, Brittany, Kenneth Jr., Jacob, Matthew, Steven II, and Nicholas Smith, Shannon Milburn, Melanie Mistric, Katie and Kristen Mullins, and Micheal Lea II; 13 great grandchildren and many other caring family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Knox Smith, Sr. and Alice Mae Strickland Smith; brother, Russell Lee Smith; and grandmother, Molly Jean Smith.
Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Visitation will resume at Ascension Baptist Church, 13432 Airline Highway, Gonzales, LA., on Monday, January 7, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until funeral service at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Dr. Thomas Ayo, Rev. Nathan Luce, and Rev. Robert Lawrence. Interment will follow in Lusk Cemetery in Gonzales. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
C.K. was a very active member of Ascension Baptist Church. He was also a member of the masons. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Fred H.
