

Chester Joseph Diez, Jr., 76, of Gonzales, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. He was born to Chester Joseph Diez, Sr. and Mildred Mire Diez on August 30, 1939. He is survived by his wife, Penny Peurifoy Diez. Children, Jeff Diez and wife Alice, Chester “Chip” Diez, III and wife Pam, Kerry Diez and wife Suzette, Renee Diez Martin and husband Marty, Rachele Diez Wilkison and husband Steve, Chris Diez and wife Robin, Jessica Diez Gautreau and husband Jordy, Brittney Diez and Trevor Diez. Grandchildren, Brennan, Madison, Cass, Holly Diez Leblanc and husband Lee, Adam, Cole and fiancée Erin, Mason and wife Taylor, Shelby, Kiplyn, Tre, Olivia, Chandler, Maggie, Carmen, Cade, Carsyn, Case, Zoey, Madelyn, Kylie, Savannah. Great granddaughter, Gracyn, and first wife, Margie Benning Diez. Siblings, Juba and wife Janie, Rolane Clement and husband Jerry, Connie Delaneuville, June Delaune, Lena Babin and husband Shelton, Mark and wife Wynn Nell, Glenda Parent and husband Burris, Mary Jane Bourgeois and husband Poochie, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was dedicated to the community and his work. He served on numerous boards, including, the Board of Bank of Gonzales, Baton Rouge Symphony, and Gonzales Chamber of Commerce. He was instrumental in founding the Ascension Fund and the Ascension Community Theater. He started several businesses, Southwest Computer Bureau, Diez Business Machines, Tempco Personnel, and CORA. He has been honored as one of the first Republicans in the parish, The Ascension Business Man of the Year, Honorary Sheriff, and the Chester Awards with the Ascension Theater. He was a friend to all and a mentor to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Sr. and Mildred Diez and his brother in law Jerry Delaune and niece Rose Clement. Visitation will be from 9am – 11am at St. John the Evangelist, Saturday August 20, 2016. Followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Pallbearers will be Trevor Diez, Cole Diez, Mason Diez, Cass Diez, Adam Diez, Tre Martin, Cade Wilkison and Case Wilkison.
