Christopher "Chris" Daniel Capello

Christopher “Chris” Daniel Capello, resident of Gonzales, LA, passed away on August 16, 2025 at the age of 19 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Baton Rouge, LA on January 12, 2006 to parents, Darla and Craig Capello.

Chris was a graduate of St. Amant High’s Class of 2024. In addition to his love for family and caretaker, he had an incredible appreciation for trains, his black cat and gospel music. But, in particular, Chris loved his various, vibrant collection of string.

Chris is survived by his mother, Darla Capello; grandparents, Sammy Lee Watson and Elsie Watson; sisters, Amber Capello Jones and Jade Price; brothers, Craig Daniel Capello Jr., Brandon Capello, Michael Price, and Jason Capello; and family friend, his caretaker of 15 years, Valerie Smith. He is preceded in death by his father, Craig Daniel Capello, Sr.; and brother, John Capello.

The visitation will be held at Ascension Baptist Church in Gonzales, LA on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 9:00-11:00 AM. Service for Chris will be officiated by Brother Robert Lawrence and Brother Marvin Reed at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Luke’s Fast Breaks, an organization that was dear to the family and blessed Chris many times. A committal service will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
