Christopher "Chris" Thevenot

Chris proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserve for 31 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He also dedicated 33 years of service to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) before his retirement and served as an officer with the LA DOTD Credit Union.

A man of deep and abiding faith, Chris was devoted to his Catholic faith and his church community at St. Mark Catholic Church. He was a member of the St. Mark’s Men’s Club, served as an usher, participated in the Men of God Bible group, and was a committed Eucharistic Adorer. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #8147 and a Man of Manresa. Chris lived his faith through service to others and participated in numerous mission trips to Honduras.

Chris enjoyed hunting, traveling, woodworking, and spending time at Rabbit’s Den Hunting Club. A talented handyman, he loved working with his hands and sharing his skills with those around him.

Chris is survived by his children, Scott Thevenot (Kim), Randy Thevenot, and Christy O’Neal (Jimmie); grandchildren, Grant, Justin, and Dustin; his great-grandchildren, Winnie and Christopher; his brother, Conrad “Rabbit” Thevenot; first wife, Shirley Hymel and his niece and nephew, Claire Bartlett and Mark Thevenot, as well as his significant other, Judy Rock.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Thevenot; and his parents, Murley Thevenot and Rena Tassin Thevenot.

Serving as pallbearers will be Grant Thevenot, Justin Thevenot, Dustin Thevenot, Jimmie O’Neal, Mark Thevenot, and Dale Tureau.

Chris will be remembered for his strong faith, his dedication to his country and community, his willingness to serve others, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His legacy of faith and service will continue to live on in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27th, from 9:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, 42021 Hwy 621, Gonzales, LA, 70737. Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. and interment to follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memory on Hwy 30.
