

Clarence Joseph Crochet, age 89, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was a native of Morganza, Louisiana and resident of Prairieville, Louisiana. Clarence was a graduate of Southwestern earning a bachelor's degree in Music and a graduate of LSU earning a master's degree in Education. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II. He was a teacher and the assistant principal at Dutchtown Elementary School. Clarence served as President of the American Hemerocallis (Daylily) Society and was a lifelong musician and artist. Clarence is survived by his daughters, Mary Biggs and husband Sonny, Ann Miller and husband Kenneth, Barbara Sheets and husband Terrell, Ellen Simon and husband Brent; sons Mark J. Crochet and wife Trish, Francis L. Crochet; brother, Allen Crochet and wife Barbara; grandchildren, Laura Brown, Gordon Biggs, John Biggs, Justin Miller, Katie Lesslie, Jason Crochet, Jonathan Sheets, Alex Sheets, Grant Simon; great-grandchildren, Issac Brown, Adah Lesslie, Annabelle Biggs, Cody Miller. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oneil and Ludivine LeBlanc Crochet and his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Elizabeth Barry "Beth" Crochet. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Visitation will resume Monday, August 18, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville from 9:00 am till Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Prairieville Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mr. Crochet's name to the Alzheimer's Services (3772 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, La 70809).
