Corinne Guitreau, 94, a resident of Head of Island, La. passed away on March 8, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. Corinne was born on October 03, 1928 in Welsh, Louisiana. She was one of only 11 graduates of the 1946 class of Zachary High School. Corinne loved her family and community, she was very involved in the church and supported many of the organizations within St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds that came to the numerous feeders in her yard, especially the hummingbirds. Her family was everything to her and she enjoyed spending time with all of her children and grandchildren. She showed her love to many by sending cards, she would select them herself and made sure the sentiment was appropriate for each individual and occasion.
She is survived by her children: Bobby Joe Guitreau (Latricia), Judy Wheat, Elizabeth Loupe, John Guitreau (Caryla), Catherine Guitreau (Donald), and Alfred Guitreau (Patsy). Grandchildren: Jason Guitreau (Tammy),Chantelle Guitreau, Jeremy Wheat, Amanda Pittman (Rindus), Mary Day (Justin), Robert Loupe, Jessica Picou (Kevin), Auston Guitreau, Nacale Methvien (Bobby), Joshua Guitreau, Lauren Fusilier (Darrel), Jeffery Guitreau (Inga), Andrew Guitreau (Ann), and Rebecca Poore (Christopher). Great-grandchildren: Kylah, Khloie, Kamryn, Stephen, Zachary, RaeAnne, Nathaniel, Sarah, Clara, Braedon, Mason, Macayla, Matthew, Nicholas, Grace, Sabrina, Leah, Lily, Elsie, and Kaci. Great-Great Grandchildren: Carson, Rylie, Aubrey, and Emma. Sisters in Law Joan and Sandra Gaudin, Special Aunt, Katie Carter and Special Nephews, Richard and Donald “Duck” Guitreau.
She is preceded in death by her husband Louis (Bob) Guitreau, parents, T.J. & Jewell Gaudin, and brothers Theo, Alfred & John David, Sons in Law Sidney Wheat and Nelson Loupe, Jr., and Great grandson Chandler Smith.
Services for Corinne will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church Hwy 16, French Settlement, La. on March 13, 2023 at 9:30 with Mass of Christian Burial at 12 pm. She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery on Old Ferry Road, Head of Island, La. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are: Andrew Guitreau, Jeffery Guitreau, Jeremy Wheat, Nicholas Fusilier, Mary Day, Jason Guitreau.
