Renee’ Gassie, a beloved real estate agent, devout Christian, and cherished resident of Gonzales, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at the age of 67 on June 23, 2024. She has traded her earthly life for her eternal life and is now sitting at the feet of Jesus. Renee’ had a love for the Lord, a love for her family, a love for her friends, and a love for life.
She was born on March 9, 1957, in Decatur, Alabama. Renee’ dedicated more than 20 years of her life to the real estate industry, helping countless families find their dream homes. Outside of her professional life, Renee’ found immense joy and fulfillment at her beloved "End of the Road Farm." Her small farm was a sanctuary where she spent her days tending to her animals and embracing the simple pleasures of rural life. End of the Road Farm was more than just a home; it was a place where family and friends gathered, creating cherished memories filled with laughter and love.
A devout Christian, Renee’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. Before her and David moved to Ascension Parish to be closer to their children, they were active members of Westside Community Church, and once moving to Ascension Parish in 2021, they found a new church home and became active members at Fellowship Church in Prairieville, Louisiana. Renee’ had a true servant’s heart and served the Lord in many ways -- participating in numerous community outreach programs, mission trips, Disaster Relief, VBS, Bible study groups, counseling with women, and the list goes on. Her faith guided her actions, providing her with strength and comfort throughout her life, and she would often be heard asking, “How can I pray for you?”
In addition to serving the Lord, Renee’ enjoyed traveling with her late husband with no set agenda, spending as much time as she could with family and friends, and one of her favorite past-times, coffee on her front porch.
Renee’ has left on earth her mother, Patsy Joy Handley Abbott; her daughters and their spouses, Marsha and Jason Wills, Cindy and Chris Pixley, Jessica and Blane Berthelot; her son and his wife, Kyle and Sabrina Muse; her son, Matthew Gassie; her sister-in-law, Tracie Abbott; and ten grandchildren: Austin Elkins, Jordan, Jake, and Jesse Wills, Dylan, Jackson, and Faith Pixley, and Alexis, Peyton, and Rylee Berthelot, all of whom she adored and who brought immense joy to her life.
She has joined her husband, David Gassie, her father, James “Slim” Abbott, her brother, Joey Abbott, her mother and father-in-law, Deekie and Edna Gassie, and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and a life lived in service to others will continue to inspire those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 26, 2024, at Fellowship Church, 14363 LA 73, Prairieville, Louisiana 70769. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00, with the service to begin at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Fellowship Church’s Missions (Louisiana Reach Haiti) or Night to Shine, causes close to Renee’s heart, at the following link: https://fcascension.com/give/.
