Delia Braud

Delia Maria de Bustillo Braud passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospice Carpenter House on December 14, 2016. She was 72 years old and a resident of Prairieville, LA. Delia was born in Oriente, Cuba on October 1, 1944. She attended Mercy Academy in Havana, Cuba and graduated from Drahan Business College in Baton Rouge, LA. Delia was known for her deep love and huge heart for children. She owned and operated a home daycare for several years, then worked for many years at St. Theresa of Avila in Gonzales, LA as the Aftercare and Summer Camp Kindergarten Teacher. She served on the Ladies Altar Society for St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Delia de Bustillo. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 48 years, Stanley Braud, Sr.; daughters, Michelle Guilbault and Deanna Goss; son, Stan Braud, Jr. (Renee'); five granddaughters, Kailey, Allison, Katie, Riley and Sophia; one grandson, Marshall; 3 sisters, Isabel Milian, Ada Sobrepera (Jose Daniel), and Giselle Saia (Russell); 3 nieces, Kim Bourgeois, Keisha Braud and Lia Chiasson; 3 nephews, Danny Sobrepera, Kevin Braud and Rus Chiasson; and many cousins and great nieces and nephews. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, wonderful and loving mother, loyal sister and true friend full of humility and grace. She was lovingly known as "Aba" and "Nana" by her grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial mass at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, 15208 LA-73, Prairieville, LA 70769 on Friday, December 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Jerry Martin will officiate, burial will follow at Serenity Oaks Cemetery.
