Della Haydel Himel passed away on October 5, 2016. She was born April 25, 1913 and was 103 years old. She was a native of Plaquemine and resident of Geismar. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, October 8, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville from 9AM until Mass of Christian burial at 11AM, celebrant Fr. Jerry Martin. Burial will be in Prairieville Community Cemetery. A reception will follow at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales. She is survived by her daughters, Emily, Bridget and Rita; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Victor Himel; parents, Frank and Marie Haydel; daughter, Irma; son, Percy; an infant son; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and 6 brothers.
