Delores Marie Cannon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Delores Marie Cannon, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Marie, age 80, entered eternal rest on Friday, January 17th, 2025.

Marie shared 61 wonderful years in marriage with her devoted husband, Lawrence W. Cannon. Together, they built a legacy of love and resilience, raising four cherished children: Brett Cannon, Shane Cannon, Carey Cannon (Becky), and Angela Alessi (Lee). Their joy multiplied with the gift of nine grandchildren: Amanda Moore, Brittany Burton, Brandon Cannon, Jermie Joseph, Rod Hunt, Crystal Hankins, William Cannon, Blaine Hebert, Claire Hebert, and six great-grandchildren.

Marie’s faith and family were the cornerstones of her life. She relished her role as a dedicated wife, nurturing mother, and cherished grandmother, always offering help, warmth, and a listening ear to those in need. Her spirit of giving was matched only by her devotion to her family and community.

A pillar of her faith community, Marie was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She generously devoted her talents to the religious education program, teaching fifth grade for decades. Her faith was not only verbal but lived, as she served as a Eucharistic minister and participated in the bereavement committee, providing solace to families during times of loss. Her involvement extended as a committed member of the Ladies Auxiliary (K.C. Council 6389).

Marie is lovingly remembered and survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her sister, Sandra Gautreau. She joins in eternal peace her beloved husband Lawrence, her parents Lloyd W. Delaune and Mae Parker Delaune, her brother Mervin Delaune, and her sister Frances Bercegay.

A funeral service to honor Marie's life will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 44450 Hwy 429, St. Amant, LA 70774. Visitation will begin at 9 AM, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Following the service, Marie will be laid to rest in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Mausoleum.

Pallbearers who will carry Marie to her final resting place include Brett Cannon, Shane Cannon, Carey Cannon, Brandon Cannon, Blaine Hebert, and William Cannon. Honorary Pallbearers are Lee Alessi, Billy Burton, Rod Hunt, and Jermie Joseph.

Marie’s life was a testament to faith, family, and unwavering kindness. She will be dearly missed, but her love and legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
