Donnie A. Cortez

He has now gone to his heavenly home to join those who have passed on. He is preceded in death by his parents, Corabelle and Alfred “Ferdie” Cortez Sr.; his sister, Bessie Candies; niece, Cory Candies and sister-in-law Sandra Cortez.

He is survived by his brothers, Ronald “Joe” Cortez, Ferdie J. Cortez (Jessica), and Alfred “Kruzer” Cortez Jr. (Claudia); his nieces and nephews, Ryan Cortez (Nette), Tara Ledet (Dale), Kasi Candies, Heather Landry (Josh), Courtney Crockett, Dylan Crockett (Charlee), Corey Johnson (Emiliia), Aaron Cortez (Erika), and Lauren Fanguy (Bart) and numerous great nieces and nephews and family members.

Donnie was a gentle giant who had the most giving heart. He loved his family and spending time with everybody. Big D loved going camping in the lake, especially when he was able to go duck hunting. For many years Donnie was the catfish chipper at Bill Spahr’s, a job he was very proud of. His kind soul and warm smile will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

He will be laid to rest at St. Gertrude Catholic Cemetery. Service date and time will be posted at a later date.
