Born in San Antonio, Texas, on April 25, 1957, Dorothy graduated from Oliver Wendell Holmes High School. She married the love of her life, Roy Schneider Jr., on April 2, 1983, and together they built a life centered on love, family, and devotion.
Dorothy worked as a librarian, where she shared her love of learning with countless others. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and especially enjoyed reading, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory, including her children, Jennifer McKeithen (Japeth), Brian Schneider (Lori), Elizabeth Schneider, Patricia Lee (Seung Yull), and Bonnie Schneider.
She was the proud grandmother of Wesley, Lucas, Diana, and Yuna, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life.
Dorothy is also survived by her siblings, Roger Barr, Donna Brown, and Dicy Ormiston, along with numerous extended family members, dear friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Our Lady of The Lake Hospital and to Pinnacle Hospice, as well as Jonathan Lyons and Brandi Baker, for the compassionate care and support they provided during Dorothy’s final days.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8th, 2026, from 9:00 a.m-10:00 a.m. at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, LA, 70737. Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. and interment will follow at Serenity Oaks Cemetery.
