Earline Marie Decoteau, a native of Norco, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, February 14th, 2022 of complications stemming from Dementia. She was 88 years old and a resident of Stoney Brook Assisted Living Facility in Copperas Cove, Texas. She attended Saint Charles Borromeo Elementary School and Destrehan High School, graduating as Valedictorian of her senior class. She received her college degree in Elementary Education from Southeastern Louisiana College and taught in Louisiana public schools for several years. After receiving her Master's Degree in Library Science from LSU, she spent 26 years as Ascension Parish Librarian and Library Director. During this time, she was caregiver for her father and older sister. She is survived by her youngest brother, Glynn Thomas Decoteau, and his wife, Sonia Young Decoteau. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis Decoteau and Bertha Gautreau Decoteau; sisters Ravenell Decoteau Vincent, Beverly Decoteau, and brothers Gaius Decoteau and Thomas Gleason Decoteau, and nephew Brent William Decoteau. Family and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 1st, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville, LA, followed by burial in the Prairieville Cemetery adjacent to church grounds.
