

Elizabeth Rosemarie Shadic, a native of Chicago, Illinois and a resident of Gonzales, LA., passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at the age of 96. She was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed. Ms. Betty was a veteran of WWII where she served as a registered nurse in Burma and China in the US Army. She loved sewing clothes and stitching needlepoint canvases. Granny blessed her grandchildren by baking a variety of cookies and putting them in special tins for Christmas. She loved baking fresh fruit cobblers, cakes and Christmas hoska breads. In addition, Ms. Betty cooked the most delicious Southern dinners that were fit for a king! She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Copes (Charles) of Hahnville, LA; grandchildren, Laura Elizabeth Copes Dempster (Brent) of Hahnville, LA, Alayne D’Anne Copes Pregeant (Casey) of Hahnville, LA; great grandchildren, Drake Lambert of New Orleans, LA, Tyler Pregeant of Metairie, LA, Maxsen Pregeant of Hahnville, LA, Bane Dempster of Hahnville, LA and Legacy Pregeant of Hahnville, LA; and niece, Anne Rockey of Hartford, Michigan. She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Amalia Foster; and her loving husband for over 50 years, Dalton Laverne Shadic of Farmerville, LA.
