

Elsie Braud Walker was born Feb. 24, 1927, and a lifelong resident of Gonzales. She passed away Feb. 8, 2011. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Laurie W. Lemoine, Gonzales, Jamie W. Jensen and Philip Jensen, Bullard, Texas, and Dale Walker and Christian Vernosky, Prescott, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Jarred and wife Jaime Lemoine, Ryan Cole Lemoine, Andrew and wife Jennifer Jensen, Lindsey Jensen, James Wade Jensen and Cammie Jensen; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Julius "Gov" and Elva Braud, and Byron J. and Marty Mire. She was preceded in death by her parents, Noemie and Joseph Braud; husband, James C. "Cobby" Walker; and brothers, Claude "Tut" Braud, Joe Braud and Brooks Braud. She was a longtime member of the Jambalaya Festival Association, including serving as secretary for the first 10 years and was a recipient of the Nora Lee Ricca Award, member of the Gonzales Volunteer Fire Department Women's Auxiliary and American Legion Post 81, Women's Auxiliary. She was a graduate of Spencer Business College and worked from home as an executive secretary for three long-term jobs. Pallbearers will be Jarred Lemoine, Cole Lemoine, Philip Jensen, Andrew Jensen, Wade Jensen and Christian Vernosky. Honorary pallbearers are Byron J. Mire and Julius Braud. Special thanks to her caregivers, Doris Mitchell, Rhonda Joseph, Cathe Blanchard and Nancy Carol Barbier. There will be a visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Friday, Feb. 11, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 12, from 10:30 a.m. until religious service at noon, conducted by the Rev.
