Ferrell Guy Shillings

A native of Acy, La. and resident of St. Amant, passed away, Sunday, January 1, 2017 in Gonzales at the age of 83. Ferrell was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired equipment manager for the L. S. U. football team for many years. The visitation for Ferrell will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will resume on Thursday January 5, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant, from 9:30 AM until a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM., conducted by Rev. Michael Galea. Entombment will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Mausoleum. Ferrell is survived by his daughter: Deirdre S. Loupe of St. Amant, 1 daughter-in-law: Becky B. Shillings of St. Amant, 4 grandchildren: Erika Thomassie Price and husband Justin, Benjamin Thomassie and Lauren, Alex Shillings and wife Brandy and Kam Shillings and 5 great grandchildren: Kayden Wascom, Paris, Hayden and Cooper Price and Owen Thomassie. Ferrell is preceded in death by his wife: Patricia Alexander Shillings, parents: William Bailey and Julia "Dink" Batts Shillings, 1 son: Kevin "Gilla" Shillings, 1 sister: Lila Shillings and 1 brother: Ray Shillings. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Thomassie, Alex Shillings, Kam Shillings, Justin Price, Greg Stringfellow and Jeff Grigus. Honorary pallbearers will be all former and current L.S.U. football team equipment personnel. Ferrell was a member of the South Central Bell Pioneers and an avid L.S.U. fan.
