

Gay B. Landry, 71 of Gonzales, LA, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024. He was born in Baton Rouge, LA on October 22, 1953. Gay graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. He served as an East Baton Rouge Deputy Sheriff and refereed high school football in the 1970’s and early 1980’s. Gay also worked for Golden Flake Chips, Flower’s Bakery (Bunny Bread) as a franchisee, and later as a routeman for Southern Belle Sandwich Company before retiring. He loved his LSU Tigers, fishing, and most of all, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing all sports. Gay was also a member of Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Deborah S. Meyers of Gonzales, LA; daughters, Shawntel Landry of Central, LA, Kathryn Landry of Denham Springs, LA, Darie (Jay) Russo of Gonzales, LA; Marylois (Bob) Stedman of Frederick, MD; daughter-in-law, Natalie Meyers of Prairieville, LA; grandchildren, Anthony and Brandon Ash, Shawn Landry, Daisy Howland, Grace Landry, Cameron, Logan, and Ella Russo, Sophia Meyers, Ainslie, Audrey, and Andrew Stedman; brothers and sisters, Loren and Jason Landry, Adrian Bickford, sister and brothers in law, Pam and Margie Massengale, and Eddie Smith. And numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Gay was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Pauline Landry; brother, Todd Landry; brothers-in-law, Francis “Buddy” Bickford and Stanley P. Smith; mother-in-law, Glendora Carter; and son, Kyle J. Meyers. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales from 12 PM until a memorial service at 1 PM. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Baton Rouge General Hospital as well as the nurses and staff at Carpenter’s House Hospice.
