He was born on December 2, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George Thompson Sr. and Muriel Chase. On July 7, 1979, he married Elizabeth Ann McLamb in Lilburn, Georgia.
Mr. Thompson completed his M. S. in Secondary history education and devoted his life to ministering in the field of Christian education. He inspired his college, high school, and middle school students to excellence for over 40 years through his dedication to Christ-centered classical education. An ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church of America, he leaves behind a legacy of service for his LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife of forty two years; one daughter, Rebecca (Charlie) Savoie of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two sons, George (Melissa) Thompson of Kingsland, Georgia, and James Thompson of Gonzales, Louisiana; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, brother, and his beloved son, John Arthur Thompson.
A visitation for George will be held Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Christ Presbyterian Church, 8025 Antioch Rd, Baton Rouge, LA, followed by a Home Going service at 11:00 AM.
The burial will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 2PM at the McLamb Family Cemetery in Collins, MS.
