

George Durham Wyatt, born on August 20,1950, passed away unexpectedly on October 23, 2025 at Baton Rouge General Hospital at the age of 75. He was a native of Winnfield, Louisiana and a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the last 7 years at the time of his passing.
He graduated from Winnfield Senior High School in 1968 where he was drum major for the high school band and went on to major in journalism at Northeast Louisiana University until graduation in 1973. He was a man of many talents and ambitions and began his career as a salesman for various companies while starting his family in Plano, TX. In 1981, he and his wife returned “home” to raise their family where he embarked on a new adventure as a radio personality (“George in the Morning” for KVCL AM/FM Radio) by morning and a successful job placement professional by day. After his stint in radio, he became a location scout for the Louisiana Office of Film & Video in Baton Rouge where he took pride in showcasing the great state of Louisiana to the outside world. He was co-owner of The Flower Box of Winnfield with his wife and in-laws, where his creativity came to life. He finished his career in the healthcare industry where he served as a Director of Business Development for more than 30 years until his retirement in 2019.
He was a true gentleman, a motivator, a leader and inspired so many. He was born with the heart of a volunteer and was a community leader. He took pride in his local community, driving him to hold many roles that enabled him to encourage others to follow suit. He served as co-chair of the Winnfield Film Commission, President of the Winn Chamber of Commerce, President of the Louisiana Forest Festival, co-Chairman of the Huey P. Long Centennial Celebration, member of the Rotary Club of Winnfield, member of the Krewe of Kingfish and member of the Miss Louisiana Scholarship Organization.
He loved his family and friends, loved the sunshine and to sit by the water. He loved music, loved to dance and was always the life of the party. He was a kind and humorous man, lighting every room he entered. He always greeted you with a smile while often leaving you with a laugh.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Leon Durham Wyatt and Juanita Christine Clifton Wyatt, both of Winnfield, and sister Judy Ione Wyatt Rayburn Buffum, of Lakewood, Colorado.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Deborah Turner Wyatt of Baton Rouge; his sons, Christopher Thomas (Angela) Wyatt of Benton, Louisiana and Adam Cordell Wyatt of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and his daughter, Hillary Turner Wyatt (Jason) Loeber of Prairieville, Louisiana; his grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Rowan Renee Wyatt, Anna Grace Loeber, Quinn Emerson Wyatt, Jack Henry Loeber and Vaughan Durham Wyatt. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters in law, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Louisiana Political Museum & Hall of Fame in Winnfield, Louisiana on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 2:00pm- 4:00pm.
