

Gerald Laiche, age 81, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 30, 2014. He was a native of Sorrento and resident of St. Amant. Gerald belonged to the boy Scouts Troop 69 of St. Amant and served as altar boy at Holy Rosary Catholic Church during the time Fr. Wysoff was officiating. He was a member of the National Guard, Battery D and Anti-Aircraft of Donalsonville. He belonged to the American Legion Gonzales Post and a life time member of the VFW in Gonzales. Gerald served in the Navy Sea Bees for four years during the Korean War. He was a retired pipefitter for the local 198 of Baton Rouge, as well as retired Benard and Burk Supervisor. He worked as a correctional officer at Hunts Correctional Center for 7 years. Gerald enjoyed riding horses, gardening, hunting and fishing. He was a graduate of St. Amant High school, Class of 1952. Gerald is survived by his daughters, Pamela Crotwell and husband, Geron, Elizabeth Deweese and husband, Travis, Sr.; sister, Mary Ann Nielsen; brothers, Richard Laiche and Gordon Laiche; grandchildren, Jared Crotwell, Tiffany Crotwell, Haley Deweese, Chelsey Deweese, Travis Deweese, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Alanna Crotwell, Noah Stephens, Brycen Castille and Anna Castille. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Anna Marie Massi Laiche; parents, Leonce and Mae Guitreau Laiche; half-brother, Robert Mire. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am with Fr. Michael Galea.
