Geraldine Sargent

A native of Baton Rouge and resident of St. Amant, she passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at the age of 70. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Jan Martinez, Clayton Stevens, and Gary Martinez; stepdaughters, Kristy, Beverly and Tracey Sargent; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Stanley Templet; grandchildren, Meggan Villnuve, Cristy Stevens, and McCall Martinez; great grandchildren, Macy Kavanaugh, Braydon Duke, Eian Jackson, Kolbi Castille, Cruz Castille, and Braysen Villnuve; two nieces, Debra Lavigne and Sherri Horton; and a nephew, Walter Nelson Williams. Preceded in death by her husband, Francis "Bud" Sargent; and parents, Dennis and Rubena Butler Herron. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Sunday, Dec. 18, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 19, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., with Brother Jody Hartner officiating. Afterwards, a procession will take family and friends to Galvez Baptist Church where a short prayer service will be held before burial in Galvez Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dennis Martinez, Gary Martinez, Nelson Williams, McCall Martinez, Allen Villnuve, and Colby Castille. Honorary pallbearer will be Clayton Stevens.
