Gertrude C. Ramirez

Gertrude Canizaro Ramirez passed away peacefully at 7:38 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025. She was 94 years old, a native of White Castle. She was a licensed practical nurse and later, for many years, she was self-employed and owned a jewelry and gift store in White Castle, LA which later became a floral and gift shop after she became a certified florist. After moving to Baton Rouge, she worked as a florist until the age of 83.

Gertrude is survived by three sons, Ted Eskine, Jr, Brian Eskine, and Steven Eskine (Amanda); six grandchildren, Andrea Trosclair (Ray), Toni Troxclair, Emily Eskine, Lauren Southerland (Justin), Shelly Timmons (Austin), Aaron Eskine (Megan); and 11 great grandchildren, Annalee, Adeline, Bella, Niko, Angelo, Ava, Carter, Carley, Jude, Maggie, and Jacob.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Ramirez, a sister Grace Ann Ourso, a brother, Leonard Canizaro, and parents Mary Campesi Canizaro and Joseph Canizaro.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8th, 2025, from 9:30am-10:45am at Ourso Funeral Home, 31885 LA- 1 N, White Castle, LA, 70788. A mass to follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in White Castle, LA with entombment to follow at OLPS mausoleum. Special thanks to the nurses at Landmark South Nursing Home and Life Source Hospice for the excellent care given to her. Rest in peace, Tude.
