

Harold Jude Waggenspack, proud American, was born in Modeste, LA, in 1924 and died on August 1, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ollie Mae (Peltier), his three sons, Gerard, Robert, and David and his 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Jody, his parents, John Willis and Julia Landry Waggenspack, four sisters, Thelma Waggenspack, Rose Mary Many, Wilda Waggenspack, and Patricia Waguespack; brothers, Melvin, Warren "Manno", Wilber, Irwin "Finny", U. Vincent "Coo" and Linden "Leannie". Harold was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served both in Occupied Japan and Korea, and was a member of American Legion Post #81. He was a mail carrier in Darrow, worked at DOW Freeport, and retired from ORMET Corporation. Harold was a wonderful storyteller and jokester. He enjoyed dancing, gardening, riding his lawn mower around the yard to "check things out", and reading Family Circus, and Marmaduke. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends, often times entertaining them with his harmonica. He was an unofficial greeter at 11:30 mass at St. John the Evangelist. Pall bearers are Gerard Waggenspack, David Waggenspack, Gerard Smiley, Luke Waggenspack, Brian Waggenspack, and Adam Waggenspack. Honorary Pall bearers are James Wolf, Derek Waggenspack, Aaron Waggenspack, Dustin Landry and Thomas Volion. Visitation will begin Monday, August 4th at 11 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville. Entombment will follow at Hope Haven Mausoleum.
