Harry Joseph Hue, affectionately known as Pawpaw, was born on November 9, 1943, in Pierre Part, Louisiana, to Ozema Hue and Rosa Hue, both of whom preceded him in death. He made his home in Ascension Parish for 46 years, where he built a life centered around faith, family, hard work, and love.
Harry was a man of many talents and many stories. A lifelong carpenter, he was a man who knew how to build things with his hands, but the greatest thing he ever built was his family. He loved the Bible and loved Jesus, and his faith was an important part of who he was.
If you knew Harry, you knew his sense of humor. He was funny, silly, a jokester, and always loved having a good time. He loved to dance—and he was pretty darn good at it, too. He had a way of making people laugh and bringing light into a room. He was also incredibly thoughtful, always taking the time to make a heartfelt toast to his family at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other special occasions.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Hubbard Hue; children Laine Hue, Gina Moreau, Rusty Louis, Dwayne Louis, Angela Louis, and Kelly Hue; his 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his twin sister Shirley Scully (Raymond Scully); brother Earnest Hue (Jo Hue); sister Agnes Esteve.
Harry was blessed with 12 grandchildren Kayla Lasserre, Alyssa Seo, Jordan Moreau, Riley Louis, Delaney Louis, Samantha Louis, Haylee Hue, Ruby Louis, Taylor Marcotte, Jack Louis, Logan Hue, and Landon Paille. 9 Great grandchildren Jacob Mouche, Amelia Mouche, Maverick Lasserre, Noah Lasserre, Saige Lasserre, Sawyer Seo, Grayson Seo, Rebecca Seo, Rhodes Harris.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Ozema and Rosa Hue; his sister Emily Blanchard (Carlton Blanchard); brother Jimmy Hue (Virgie, Ann); brother Junius Hue (Vi, Jeri); sister Lucy Mae; brother Percy Hue; baby brother Shelby Hue; and brother-in-law Russell Esteve.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Louis (honorary), Dwayne Louis, Jack Louis, Mark Henderson, Ricky Blanchard, Nelson Hue, Landon Paille, Sean Harris, and Warren Boudreaux.
Visitation will be at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales, LA, on Friday, August 28, 2026, beginning at 9:00 AM. A Celebration of Life Service is to follow at 1:00 PM, preceded by the Committal Service at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery in St. Amant, LA.
