Hattie Bell Moran

Hattie Bell Moran, 95, of Gonzales, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026. She was born on July 30, 1931, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was a lifelong member of the community. Hattie attended Gonzales High School and was a devoted member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church.

Hattie was a woman who loved her family deeply and lived a life filled with hard work, creativity, and love. She enjoyed following in her husband’s footsteps, helping with the work of everyday life—from bailing hay to building fences. She also had a special talent for decorating. Each Christmas, Hattie would decorate and string Christmas lights in a way that became a treasured Gonzales tradition, with people lining up to come see her beautiful displays.

One of Hattie’s greatest passions was sewing. She lovingly made clothes for her children and grandchildren, eventually turning her talent and love of sewing into a career. She especially enjoyed hand-beading bridal gowns, putting countless hours of care and craftsmanship into each one. Her work was not simply a career—it was an expression of her creativity, generosity, and love.

Hattie’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughter Diane Williams; Son Jimmie Moran(Carol),Daughter Sheron Fontenot(Dawson), Daughter in law Pamela Jane Moran,Son; Danny Moran(Pamela); Son Glen Moran. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory and the love she gave them throughout their lives.

Hattie was preceded in death by her parents, A. Paul Bourgeois and Luse Babin Bourgeois; her beloved husband, Dewey “By-June” Moran; her son, Earl John Moran Sr., Son in law Ronald Williams Sr. and her granddaughter Abbi Moran.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are her son, Glen Moran, and her grandsons, Ronald K. Williams Jr., Jamie Fontenot, Jason Moran, Earl Moran Jr., and Casey Moran.

Hattie will be remembered for her strong work ethic, creative hands, generous heart, devotion to her family, and the beautiful traditions she created. Her love will live on through the many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church, 42021 Highway 621, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737, on September 25, 2026, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Catholic Funeral Mass at St. Mark Catholic Church on September 25, 2026, at 11:00 am. A Committal Service will take place at Lake Cemetery in Saint Amant, LA, on September 25, 2026, at 12:30 pm.
