

Helen Louise Hamrick Bilbo was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Wednesday, October 31, 2018 with her loving family at her side at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of 86.
Helen was born in Laurel, Mississippi on August 26, 1932. She was the devoted wife of the late Ray Butler Bilbo for 67 years. She was the mother of Garland Dwayne Bilbo (Beverly), and Marilyn Elaine Bilbo Dillmann (John). Helen was the loving grandmother of three precious grandchildren Brandon Dwayne Bilbo (Rachelle), Bethany Bilbo Rasmussen (Joshua), and Amanda McDonnel Galatas (Herman), and step-grandchildren Todd Dillmann (Rebecca) and Amy Dillmann. She also adored her four great-grandsons Maddox Ray Bilbo, Marshall Paul Bilbo, Carter Joseph Galatas and Beaux Edward Rasmussen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Butler Bilbo; her parents James B. Hamrick and Dovie Amy Gibson Hamrick; and a son Gary Ray Bilbo.
Relatives and friends are invited to join Helen’s family as they honor her life and memory, Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Ourso Funeral Home; 13533 Airline Highway; Gonzales, LA 70737. Visitation begins at 10:30am, followed by a Celebration of Helen’s Life at 12:00noon, officiated by Reverend Garland Bilbo. The Burial Ceremony will follow at Serenity Oaks Memorial Park in Prairieville, LA, officiated by Reverend Brandon Bilbo.
Pallbearers include: John Dillmann, Brandon Bilbo, Herman Galatas, Joshua Rasmussen, Kenneth Bilbo, Jeffery Bilbo and Rick Bilbo.
Helen lived a wonderful life with her loving husband and family. After graduating from high school, she completed a business college program at Jones Junior College in Ellisville, Mississippi, and was employed at Woolworth. She was a pianist and sang in a church trio. After marrying, they relocated to New Orleans, where they raised their family. She accepted a position with the Federal Reserve Bank. Helen was a very supportive wife and mother. She had a tremendous personality, a great sense of humor and thoroughly enjoyed making others laugh. She was an accomplished seamstress and found great joy in cooking the most amazing southern meals, complete with delicious desserts. She loved shopping and found the greatest bargains.
