Jackson Gerard Virga, 15 months, of Gonzales, LA passed peacefully Thursday, July 23, 2026 at St.Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis after a 9 month battle with cancer. Born in Baton Rouge, LA, Jackson was the light of his parent’s world. Diagnosed at five and a half months old with
Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia Jackson fought with everything that he had and stayed strong and happy throughout treatment. While officially in remission, it was ultimately the chemotherapy therapy side effects that caused much tissue and vascular damage that could not be repaired. Jackson was a vibrant and happy baby that left a positive impression on everyone that he met.
Jackson is survived by his mother, Janay LeJeune; father, Justin Virga; grandparents, David(Teedy) and Michele LeJeune of Brusly, LA, John and Lisa Virga of Slidell, LA. uncles, Dr Marty LeJeune (Nita Marie), Zachary Virga, Travis Virga, and aunt, Jordan Harris (Blake).
Visitation will be on Friday, July 31, 2026 from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales. Interment will follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memory on Hwy 30 in Gonzales. We ask those in attendance to wear bright colored clothing (No t-shirts), as Jackson was a bright and cheerful child we want to honor him this way.
