Dr. James Allison Marchand

Born and raised in Gonzales, James graduated from Gonzales High School before attending Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. Following medical school, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1962. After his military service, James pursued his lifelong passion for aviation by obtaining his pilot’s license, becoming the proud pilot of his own plane. He loved flying his family to vacation destinations across the country, creating cherished memories along the way. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, James served a two-year mission and held numerous callings throughout his life. His faith was central to who he was and guided his service to others. James found great joy in spending time with family and friends at his cabin in Beaver Springs, Utah, where he shared his love of the outdoors, teaching his sons to hunt and fish. He was also an accomplished taxidermist and an avid traveler who delighted in exploring the world. He is survived by his daughters, Jeanne Dailey (Scott) of Draper, UT, and Lisa Webster of Riverton, UT; his son, Gregory Marchand of Glendale, AZ; stepchildren, Claudia Bowles (Bruce) of Herriman, UT, and Ralph Mitchell of Joe’s Valley, UT; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored him. James was preceded in death by his oldest son, James A. Marchand Jr.; his beloved wife, Eilene Draper Marchand; his parents; three younger brothers; and two younger sisters.

A graveside service will be held in his honor on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Prairieville Cemetery, 37577 Duplessis Rd, Prairieville, Louisiana 70769. Pallbearers will be Gregory Marchand, Brody Webster, Braxton Webster, Preston Oakden, Scott Dailey, and Bruce Bowles. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Dr. James Allison Marchand. Arrangements by Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales, LA.
