

James Miles passed away peacefully at his home on March 20, 2016, at the age of 82. He was a native of Livonia, Louisiana, and a resident of Gonzales, Louisiana. He was a retired millwright. He was a parishioner and usher of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served honorably in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Marie "Dele" Miles, son, James "Clint" Miles, Jr., and wife Gail "Peanut" Miles, daughters, Donna Chestovich, and husband, Samuel Chestovich, Michelle Dardeau and husband, Bryan "Pancho" Dardeau, Melissa "Missy" Firmin, and husband, Herbert Firmin, III; grandchildren, Kathleen LoCicero and husband Nick LoCicero, Meagan Miles, Kayla Miles, Brette Dardeau, Nicholas Chestovich, Dominick Chestovich, Tori Firmin, and Joseph Firmin; great-grandchildren, Jerin Jones, Gage LoCicero, and Levi LoCicero, and sisters Myrtle Miles Pinsonat and Ethel Miles Thomas. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Harris Miles, and mother, Elizabeth Martinez Miles, sister, Louise Miles Smith, brothers, Willie H. Miles, Jr., and Lester Miles. The family wishes to thank Dr. Stephen Antrobus, Dr. Andrew Rees, and Dr. Marshall Stagg, II, and a special thank you to Nurses Christa and Jerry and the staff of Hospice in His Care. We would especially like to thank Dwayne Labatut, his nephew, who we could always rely on for his special attention and gentle compassion through the years. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., Celebrant Monsignor Douglas Doussan and Father Rubin Reynolds. Interment will follow at Oak Lane Memorial Park, 15304 Highway 73, Prairieville, Louisiana. Pallbearers will be Samuel Chestovich, Bryan "Pancho" Dardeau, Herbert Firmin, Nicholas Chestovich, Dominick Chestovich, and Honorary Pallbearers Clint Miles and Dwayne Labatut. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent DePaul.
