

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. James Murry “Sneaky” Babin on Friday, May 6, 2016, 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant. Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Ourso Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Friday morning at Holy Rosary Catholic Church starting at 9:00 am and continuing until Mass at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memory Cemetery in Gonzales. A native and resident of Gonzales, Mr. Babin passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends. He was 79. Mr. Babin was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and eventually managed Boudreaux’s Texaco service station and worked for Texaco where he retired. He served as a board member for East Ascension Academy School. He was a cook, longtime member and hunting captain of the McElroy Hunting Club. Mr. Babin loved to cook, hunt and especially fish at his favorite fishing hole, Lake Concordia. He also enjoyed card games and taught Casino, Booray and Texas Hold Em at the hunting club. He is survived by his wife, Veronica Braud Babin; daughter, Jamie Babin Aguillard and husband Randy; son, Royce Babin and wife DeWanna; grandchildren, Ory James Aguillard, Jake Reed Babin, Jandy Marie Aguillard; brother, Dwight Babin and wife Wanda; sister, Sharon Acosta Villar and brother-in-law, Donald Scarborough. He was preceded in death by his father, Winthrope Joseph Babin; mother, Bella Parr Babin and sister, Patricia Babin Scarborough. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. Olin Berthelot and Dwight Babin will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family of Mr. Babin would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Amedysis Hospice and Home Health as well as everyone else who offered prayers and cared for Mr. Babin.
