Gloria Jeannette Wilson, affectionately known as “Nette,” passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026. Born on June 22, 1950, Jeannette was deeply rooted in her faith and family and was known as the steady, caring presence everyone could rely on.
She is survived by her daughter, Heather Ballard; her son-in-law, John Ballard; and her beloved grandson, Flynn Ballard. She also leaves behind her siblings, Joannette Templet, James Wilson, and Sheila Wilson. Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, Mary “Pearl” Gambrell and James “Jimmy” Wilson, and her son, Chad Braud.
A devoted member of Church Praise in Prairieville, Louisiana, Jeannette lived her faith daily. Known for her unwavering belief in discernment and the power of prayer, she began each morning by sharing scripture and encouragement with others. Jeannette enjoyed Mexican food (though she jokingly insisted she had reached her limit for birthday celebrations), worship music, puzzles, movies—especially War Room—and time spent with her grandson. She loved elephants for their quiet strength and cherished keepsakes and memories, rarely throwing anything away. She especially enjoyed traveling and cruising, where adventure often found her alongside family. Jeannette took great pride in raising her daughter while working full-time and in being a devoted Nana, living a life guided by faith. She will be remembered as the “mama hen” of the family—a source of love, strength, and support whose legacy lives on in the lives she touched.
Services for Jeannette will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Church Praise 36452 C. Braud Rd, Prairieville, La. Visitation will be from 9 am until the funeral service at 11 am. She will be laid to rest at Hope Haven Cemetery, 604 E. Hwy 30, Gonzales, La.
