John William Carrigan Jr.

He was born in Portsmouth, VA, on March 20, 1952. He graduated from LSU and later earned his Master’s Degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in San Francisco, CA.

On August 13, 1977, John married the love of his life, Jo Ann Roberts Carrigan, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service.

John faithfully served as the pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church for 40 years. His life’s calling was devoted to spreading the Gospel, nurturing his church family, and dedicating himself to worldwide mission work.

He was a true travel expert, always planning the next adventure and encouraging others to see the world the way he did. He never missed a chance to cheer on his beloved LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints, proudly supporting his teams through every season.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Jo Ann Roberts Carrigan; daughter, Casey Burnham, and her husband, Joshua; his son, John Carl Carrigan, and his wife, Haley; and his beloved grandchildren: Eli Burnham, Erin Burnham, and Rose Carrigan.

He is also survived by his sister, Jennifer Morrison, and her husband, Jerry; his sister, Joy Williams, and her husband, Jerry; and his sister-in-law, Faye Arco, widow of John’s brother, Tommy Acro.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Jean Carrigan, and brother, Tommy Arco.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15th from 5:00- 7:00 PM at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, LA, 70737. The Celebration of Life to follow.
