John R. Halbrook (Johnny) passed away on April 11, 2021 at the age of 67, at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, LA. Mr. Halbrook was born June 24, 1953 in Bastrop, LA and recently made his home in Gonzales, LA. Preceded in death by his parents, William Levelle Halbrook and Marie Halbrook Scott, as well as his cousin/friend Dr. Arthur Marshall Halbrook. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 36 years, Sandra Malta Halbrook; loving father to daughters, Kerensa Halbrook, Christina Halbrook Mire (Andrew); step-daughter, Lisa James (Antonio); son, John Paul Halbrook; step-son, Marvin Head III (Heather); eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter; brother, Mike Halbrook (Cheryl); as well as his nephew, Mike; and nieces, Carrie and Ashley. John retired from Entergy LA., after 43 years of employment in the position of electrical engineer. John loved music and his passion was evident in his ability to play multiple instruments. He continued honing his skills on the guitar and keyboard which were his favorites. He had fond memories of his time playing music with The Dirty Rice band. He also spent many days of his retirement in his backyard gardening. He loved nature and regularly enrolled in many classes with the LSU Agricultural Department. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Holy Family Catholic Church, 155 Holy Family Lane, Luling, LA on April 15, 2021 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am.
