

John “JP” Part passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at the age of 73 in his home surrounded by his family. His battle with cancer in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain he came out a hero and stayed strong till the end.
He was a US Air Force veteran having served during the Vietnam War. Following his service to his country, he went on to have a successful career at Shell Chemical. After retiring in 2005, he enjoyed spending time at his fishing camp on Lake Verette, countless fishing trips to Toldeo Bend with his brother-in-laws and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis Robert Part. Daughters, Shandra Gillaspy (Matthew), Leslie Hebert (Brenen), Jodey Bruno (Paul). Grandchildren, Lauren Bourgeois (Todd), Logan Brown (LiaBeth), Landrie Gillaspy, Reese & Tanner Hebert, Kara, Kason, Kamden, & Kai Bruno. Great-grandchildren, Truett & Nola Allen, Martie, Ryder, & Westen Bourgeois and one on the way, Emilia Brown. Sisters, Nancy Baas, Mary Bennett, Laurie Carroll (Mickey), and Alice Rogers (Keith) and brother, David Part (Cindy). He is also survived by his 6 brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, numerous godchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Stafford and Evelyn Part; brothers, Kenneth and Stafford Part; sister, Rae Ellen Clements; and mother and father-in-law, Lester and Dorothy “Fat” Robert.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy. Gonzales, LA 70737, from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 37311 Hwy 22, Darrow, LA at 10:00 a.m. with no visitation prior to mass. Interment will follow at Hope Haven Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pall bearers will be Logan Brown, Reese and Tanner Hebert, Kason, Kamden, Kai Bruno and David Part. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Matthew Gillaspy, Brenen Hebert, Paul Bruno, Todd Bourgeois and his six ‘brothers’ Renell, Dale, Faryl, Rickey, Kirk and Keeley Robert.
