Jorda Joseph Young Sr.

Funeral services for Jorda Joseph Young, Sr. will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, 11:00 am at Ourso Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memory in Gonzales. Visitation will take place on Tuesday morning starting at 9:30 am and continuing until service time. Mr. Jorda was born on April 13, 1935 in Ascension Parish and passed away on April 6, 2017 at The Carpenter House of Baton Rouge. Jorda loved playing with his grand kids, training his horses, working on his tractor and bailing hay. He was retired from Shell Chemical after 25 years of service. He will be missed greatly by all who loved him. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Sanchez Young; sisters-in-law Lorraine & Bobby Young; children, Chad Young, Charae and Todd Kynett (Carson City, NV), Jorda Jr. and Laurie Young; grandchildren, Jorda Young lll, Brynne Young Carpenter, Jean’ Paul Keller, Tyson Young, Margo Young Rachal, Shelby Young, Leslie Jorda Kynett and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hyson & Violet Brashear Young and brothers, Curtis and Charles Young. Pallbearers will be Brett Sanchez, Chet Bourque, Jorda Young lll, Tyson Young, Josh Carpenter and Jarrett Rachal. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Braud lll and Byron Gautreau. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jim Law and 1st Baptist Church of Gonzales, Feliciana Home Health, St. Joseph Hospice, Carpenter House and our wonderful caregiver, Lillian Young.
