Joseph “Jerry” Clement Sr. passed away on September 21, 2026, at the age of 92. He was born in Thibodaux, LA and was a current resident of Gonzales, LA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.
He was married for 68 years to his loving wife, Rolane T. Clement. He is also survived by his children, Joseph “Joey” Clement Jr. (Donna), Janet Clement Poole (late Robert), Roland Clement (Raelynn) and Ronnie Clement (Amber); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his brother, George Clement.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rose Clement; his parents, Alcide Rose and Claude Clement (Anita); his sisters, Mildred Ockmond, Inez Becnel, Florence Matherne, Nellie Clement and Elizabeth Clement and his brothers, Edward Clement, Thomas Clement, Lloyd Clement, Romsey Rome, Claude Clement Jr. and Howard Rome.
Jerry was hard working man who did all he could to provide for his family. He retired after 38 years from Avondale Shipyard. A parishioner at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church and a member of the Knight of Columbus. Jerry truly was a man of faith and family. He will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
The family would like to extend a heartful thank you to Dr. Baird, Dr. Khuri, the Carpenter House, St. Joseph Hospice and his caregiver Sue Brown for their compassion and care for Mr. Jerry.
Visitation will be held at St. Theresa Of Avila Catholic Church, 1022 N Burnside Ave, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737, on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. He will be laid to rest at Cornerview Cemetery. Those honored to server as pallbearers are Joey Clement, Caleb Clement, Roland Clement, Justin Clement, Jeff Diez and Randy Delaneuville.
