Joyce Ann Jacobsen Wright

Joyce Ann Jacobsen Wright, a resident of Geismar, LA passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2025. She was 81 years old. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose quiet strength and loving spirit touched everyone who knew her. Joyce was married to her loving husband, James Wright Sr and together they shared a life rooted in family, care, and enduring devotion. She found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life, especially tending to her garden and creating beautiful works through sewing, crocheting, and knitting. Her hands were rarely still, and many were blessed to receive something lovingly made by her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James Wright Sr; daughter, Jeanine Wright; grandson, Chandler Wright; siblings, Dorothy George, Sally Wardlow, Raymond Jacobsen, Burl Jacobsen, and Wayne Jacobsen. She was preceded in death by her son, Edwin Wright Jr; parents; Raymond “Cotton” and Ruby Hutchinson Jacobsen; sister, Ruby Ray Kramer; and brother, Cecil Jacobsen.

A visitation for Joyce will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM and will resume on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 9 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM at Ourso Funeral Home 13533 Airline Hwy Gonzales, LA. She will be laid to rest at Hope Haven Cemetery, 37577 Duplessis Rd. Prairieville, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, alzfdn.org/donate/
