Larry Dale Tidwell, Sr., born March 30, 1946, went to be with his savior November 27, 2025. Larry was a native of East Tallassee, Alabama and a longtime resident of Pride, Louisiana, but don’t forget that Alabama red dirt always ran through his veins. Larry moved from Alabama to Louisiana at the age of 16 to begin his life as a Louisianian. He worked for Ethly Corp for 20 years then started a career as a business owner doing Auto Mechanic and Body Work. Larry made his last career move and opened Tidwell’s Fiberglass. This was no doubt his calling. He was an extremely skilled boat repairman specializing in his fiberglass work and went on to serve his community for the next 28 years. If he wasn’t working on a boat, he could be found fishing in one. Larry was an avid fisherman and fished in many local tournaments for over 50 years. But above all he was a man of faith and family. He was a fierce defender of his family. Larry loved Jesus with all his heart and loved sharing his faith with others. Larry was who he was like it or not. He was a man that knew his identity and used the truth to teach those around him. He will truly be missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind those to cherish his memory; his wife of 60 years Emma Jane Bridges Tidwell; his children, Larry Dale Tidwell, Jr (J.J.), David Lamar Tidwell (Margaret) and Kellye Lee Tidwell Glover (Wesley); his grandchildren, Dalen Tidwell, Sunni Tidwell, Michael Tidwell, Amy Tidwell, Emilye Tidwell Foretich(Landon), Tyler Tidwell, McKaylee Glover and Dawson Glover and 4 great-grandchildren, Emmye Tidwell, Olive Tidwell, Jenny Boyd and Tucker Foretich. He is also survived by his siblings, Debbie Marsh, Carol Spossato and Barry Baker and numerous family members and friends.
He has now gone to join those who have gone before him in their heavenly home; his parents, Dovard Talmadge Tidwell and Mary Voncille Holley Tidwell Peloquin (Albert Lee Peloquin).
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Larry’s Life on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Journey Church, 17407 Greenwell Springs Rd. Greenwell Springs, LA 70739. Visitation will begin at 5PM with the service starting at 6PM. Services will be conducted by Larry’s sons, Larry “Dale” Tidwell Jr. and David Lamar Tidwell.
