

A resident of St. Amant and native of Gonzales, she passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the age of 77. She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Bernard C. Bourgeois; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Lisa Lobell Bourgeois; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jill and E. J. Hidalgo and Kit and Rick Janis; daughter-in-law, Francis Lambert; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three sisters, Rosemary Daigle, Gertie Moran, and Cecilia Savoy; and special family friends, Donna and Randall St. Pierre and family. Preceded in death by her parents, Valentine and Cecile Dupre Babin; son, Blake Bourgeois; daughter, Gail Bourgeois; and one sister, Ruth Babin Moran. Leona was an avid reader, cook, and embroiderer who enjoyed sharing these gifts with others. A member of the Allons Parler Cadien French Class and fan of country music, she loved spending her time with family and friends. Visitation will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. Jon Koehler. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Elmo Lambert, Jerry Bourgeois, Adam Bourgeois, Chase Bourgeois, Landon Marchand, and Daniel St. Pierre.
