Linda Carol Simms, 69, of Prairieville, Louisiana, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 6, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends.
Linda was born October 7, 1956, to William and Norma James (née Passaw) in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the beloved wife of 48 years to Kevin Simms and devoted mom to Sarah Simms and son-in-law Samuel Sanchez. Linda was also a loving sister to Robert (Bob) James and sister-in-law to Glenn Simms. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Linda was a strong woman of deep and unwavering faith who loved God and lived her life caring for others with her tender, generous, and compassionate nature. She was truly the heart and soul of her family, a steady and loving presence everyone could count on, and who made every person feel welcome, valued, and never alone. Her home was a place of warmth and comfort, always open to anyone in need, and her generous heart made everyone feel like family. Linda gave endlessly of herself through quiet acts of kindness, volunteer work, and simply being there with a listening ear, a helping hand, or an infectious laugh that could brighten any room. She loved exploring, especially on the many road trips she took with her husband, the love of her life and best friend, with whom she built a marriage filled with love, laughter, and a deep friendship that made them true partners in life. She also found joy in life’s simple blessings such as trying new recipes, antiquing, diving into British whodunits, and expressing her endless creativity as a talented artist whose work reflected her warmth, humor, and joyful spirit. Though she is deeply missed, the faith, gentleness, and joy she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Linda on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1415 E. Hwy 30, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. A celebration of Linda’s life will continue later that afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the Simms home, 38124 Seven Oaks Avenue, Prairieville, LA. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in sharing memories and honoring the love and joy Linda brought to so many.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pinnacle Hospice, 5627 S. Sherwood Forest Blvd, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
