

A resident of Lake and retired superintendent of Burnside Terminal, he passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at his residence unexpectedly. He was 89 and a native of Lake. He was a WW II veteran from 1944 to 1946 and a PFC Rifleman with the U.S Army, having served in Belgium. He was recently honored by the Honor Air Organization with a trip to Washington D.C. with other veterans from the area. Visiting will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Sunday, March 28, 2010 from 5 pm to 9 pm. Visiting will resume on Monday at the Sacred Heart Chapel, Lake from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Burial to follow in Lake Cemetery. He is survived by his 2 daughters; Patsy White and her husband, Gene and Linda Millet; 3 sisters, Lillian Pendarvis, Laura Roussell, and Lenora “Kitty” Russell; 3 brothers, Lloyd C. “Son” Mayers, Lionel “Bully” Mayers, and Luther “Pee Wee” Mayers; 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey Paxton and wife, Kris, Beth Denson and husband, Brad, Monica Gayle and husband, Tommy, Darlene Candell and husband Don, and Chance Millet and wife, Leah; 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Thula “Maw” Keller Mayers, parents, L.H. and Ethel Mayers. Pallbearers will be Bradley Millet, Jeffrey Paxton, Tommy Gayle, Cody Frederic, Dempsey Pendarvis and Brad Denson.
