

Lois (Lavigne) Watts Avara peacefully departed this life for a new heavenly home on November 11, 2025 at the age of 92. She was born on May 8, 1933, in Lake, Louisiana, Ascension Parish, to Emile and Gertrude Pearson Lavigne. She was a lifelong resident of Denham Springs. Lois was a devoted mother and grandmother who especially loved spending time making memories with her grandchildren. Her hands were always busy and found great joy in cooking for family, caring for her flowers, and sharing fruit from her treasured fruit trees.
She is survived by her children, Janet Watts Varnado, Ricky Watts (Debra); 4 grandchildren, Scott Varnado, Kyle Varnado, Bridget Arceneaux (Aaron), Cody Watts; 3 great grandchildren, Kelsey Arceneaux, Logan Arceneaux, and Brilynn Watts; sisters, Joyce Andrews, Leontine Weaver, Virginia Meche; brother, Lawrence Lavigne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eulice Watts (d. 1972); husband, Clifford Avara (d. 2001); siblings, Emile Lavigne, Jr., Fernell Lavigne, Hilda Weishar, Joseph Lavigne, Glorydean Templet, Clara Buratt, John Adam Lavigne, Perry Lavigne; special niece, Mercedean Waguespack, and son-in-law, Kenneth Varnado.
Visitation will be held on November 15, 2025 at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales from 11:00 AM until service at 2:00 PM, conducted by her nephew, Gralin Buratt. Burial is to follow at the Lake Chapel Cemetery in Lake, LA.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Scott Varnado, Kyle Varnado, Cody Watts, Aaron Arceneaux, Logan Arceneaux, and nephew, Steve Buratt.
For compassionate care during her final days, the family would like to thank Jessica Howze with Downhome Christian Care, Harvest Manor Healthcare staff, and Life Source Hospice.
