

Lorraine Marie Fagot Brennan came into this world on July 30, 1934. She was the youngest of six children born to Lillian Marie Duplantier Fagot and Cornelius Lionel Fagot, Sr. She entered into eternal life following complications from vascular dementia and Parkinson’s disease on October 7, 2014. Lorraine was the beloved wife of 59 years of the late Robert Joseph (R.J.) Brennan, Jr. She is survived by her loving children, Colleen Mary Brennan Labat (Darren) and Robert Joseph Brennan. There are six cherished grandchildren, James, Ashley, Whitney, Robert Alexander, Abbygale and Mallory.
Besides her parents, Lorraine is preceded in death by her brothers, Lionel, Francis, Edward and Raymond Fagot and by her sister, Marian Fagot Grillot.
“Ma Mere”, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, was a devoted Catholic Educator. She lived her faith every day as she influenced the lives of many young people as a teacher and elementary school Principal. She was the founding Principal at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic School in LaPlace, LA and served there from 1980 through 1989. She also served as Principal at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School in Destrehan, LA, Mater Dolorosa Catholic School in Independence, LA, and St. Joseph Catholic School in Ponchatoula, LA. She was also a teacher at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School in LaPlace, LA.
Lorraine was a long time parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Church in LaPlace and St. Joseph Church in Ponchatoula. She loved music and participating in the choir in both of these churches. She was most recently a parishioner at St. Theresa of Avila church in Gonzales, LA following her move to Magnolia Assisted Living in Gonzales, LA in April 2012.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation at St. Joan of Arc Church, 529 West 5th St, LaPlace, LA on Monday, October 13, 2014 beginning at 9:30AM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens immediately following.
The family gratefully acknowledges the loving care given to Mere by the staff of Magnolia Assisted Living in Gonzales, the staff of MedPass and by the staff of New Century Hospice in Baton Rouge, LA.
