Louis Lecoq Jr. passed away May 13, 2025, after a valiant year-long battle with leukemia, surrounded by the love of his family and the peace of knowing he lived a full and fearless life. He was a husband, father, grandfather, outdoorsman, and friend — a man who never met a stranger and always had a story to tell, especially if it involved the woods, the water, or a well-earned laugh.
Born and raised in Morganza, Louis carried with him the spirit of small-town Louisiana—grit, generosity, and a deep-rooted love for the outdoors. He was happiest with a rod in his hand or sitting in a deer stand, often returning from the woods or the lake with stories as big as the fish he claimed to catch. The outdoors weren’t just a hobby for Louis — they were a way of life, a connection to the world that kept him grounded and at peace. His love for the outdoors was only rivaled by the love he had for his family.
Louis built his life in Prairieville with his wife, Lisa. Together, they raised two sons, Jared (married to Megan) and Justin (married to Haley), whom he taught to work hard, love harder, and to always pack an extra tow strap… Just In Case. His grandchildren, Sage and Rose, lit up his world in ways that only grandkids can — with unconditional love, uncontrollable giggles, and the occasional sticky hug.
Professionally, Louis was part of the Brian Harris BMW Service team, where his work ethic, honesty, and easy charm earned the respect of coworkers and customers alike.
Louis is preceded in death by his father, Louis Lecoq Sr.; nephew, Cody Holmes; and his brother-in-law, Mike Holmes — all of whom he missed dearly and now joins in peace.
Louis is also survived by his mother, Margaret, and his brothers Scotty (married to Tammy), Jamie (married to Chandel), and his sister Mary (married to Mark).
The Lecoq family extends heartfelt thanks to the extraordinary teams at Amedysis-Hospice, Mary Bird Perkins at BR General, Ochsner-New Orleans, and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Their care and compassion gave Louis strength during his hardest days and comfort through his battle.
Louis Lecoq Jr. leaves behind a legacy of grit, laughter, loyalty, and the kind of love that never needed many words. He taught us how to live boldly, love fully, and never pass up a good fishing trip. His big hugs could cure just about anything, and his back porch was a second home for many. He made life bigger, louder, and better, and we’re all a little better for having known him. His memory will live on in quiet mornings on the water, the stillness of the woods, and the laughter shared around a boiling crawfish pot.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 9:00-11:00 AM at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy in Gonzales, LA. The funeral mass will be held afterwards at St. John the Evangelist, 15208 LA-73, Prairieville, LA 70769 at 11:30 AM. Following mass, a reception will be held at the home of Jared and Megan Lecoq, 14217 Bluff Rd., Prairieville, LA.
