Marcel Rene Gaudet

Marcel "Rene" Gaudet, 81, passed away on March 4, 2024, after bravely battling a Parkinson's-related illness. He was surrounded by his devoted wife, Myrtle "Elaine" Gaudet, and his beloved sons, Michael and Alexander, along with Alexander's wife, Nicole. Rene graduated from the University of New Orleans with a degree in Chemistry, paving the way for a fulfilling career as an Environmental Engineer, retiring at Murphy Oil. His dedication to his work was matched only by his love for his family and friends. A true family man, Rene cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His warm smile and kind heart endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. In addition to his professional achievements, Rene shared passions for engineering, history, and collecting. His enthusiasm for life was infectious, leaving a lasting impact on those around him. Rene was preceded in death by his nine siblings, Lucette (Edward Cory) Gaudet, Rosalie Gaudet, Marcel Rene Gaudet, Oscar (Doris Farmer) Gaudet Jr., Robert (Elizabeth Gore) Gaudet, Edward (Mary Helen Madere) Gaudet, Joyce (John) Booth, Josie Gaudet, and Leslie (Shirley LeBoeuf) Gaudet; and his parents, Oscar and Blanche Gaudet, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched. A visitation for Rene will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 9:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737. Burial will follow at Serenity Oaks Memorial Park, 15304 Hwy 73, Prairieville, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in Rene’s honor.
