

A native of New Orleans Louisiana and a resident of The Greens at Pelican Point (Gonzales), she passed away suddenly of natural causes at her home, on Thursday, Oct 24. She was 71.
Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard, of whom she was a devoted caretaker, from Dec of 2007 until his death in Nov of 2012. They had been married 51 years.
Margaret was also preceded in death by a son, Brian David Castay, in addition to her parents, George A Miller Sr. and Estelle Gerard Miller, her paternal grandparents, Wallace and Margaret Baudry, and her maternal grandparents, Cornelius Edward and Hilda Gerard.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Allison Margaret Castay, and son Howard J. Castay, Jr., (wife Darlene Loupe Castay). She is also survived by two grandsons, Jason and John Arceneaux, a granddaughter, Chastity Arceneaux, and five great-grandchildren: Samantha and Madison DeHart, and Ty, Braeden and Anna Arceneaux.
Margaret is also survived by her sister, Georgia Mae (Charles) Dobbs, her brother, George (Lana) Miller, her niece, Bridgette Berndt, and her niece’s children. She is also survived by extended nephews and nieces from her marriage within the Castay Family.
Finally, Margaret is survived by numerous cousins and special friends including: Barbara Tobin and her family, Donna Gene Villar, Debra Halker and their families, John and Kathleen Riley, Travis Cancienne and family, Joe & Marie Spano, Fr. Anthony White, Millie Matherne, Phyllis Jones, Florette Laiche, her bridge club members, and her neighbors residing within The Greens inside Pelican Point.
Margaret retired from Whitney Bank, treasuring more than 20 years. She worked a majority of that time as executive assistant for King Milling, president, and William Marks, chief executive officer. Prior to that, she taught kindergarten for many years at Christ the King School in Terrytown, La. She also worked briefly for Shell Oil, as a legal secretary for former Gretna Mayor William White, and as a secretary at the former Hope Haven Madonna-Manor Boys Home.
She attended Our Lady of Holy Cross College, and the American Banking Institute. She graduated from Annunciation High School and St Mary of the Angels Elementary School.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation Tuesday, Nov. 5th at the Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, from 5 to 8 pm, after which a concluding rosary will be said. There will be a second but brief visitation on Wednesday Nov. 6th at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 37303 Hwy 22 in Darrow, where she is currently a parishioner, from 9am to 10:30 am. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will follow, with interment inside Oak Lane Memorial Park, 15304 Hwy 73 in Prairieville. There she will be laid to rest next to her husband, almost one day to his passing, which has been barely a year.
