

Marion Patrick “Moose” Modicut, 85, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026, Born on January 8, 1941, in Baton Rouge, LA. He was a lifelong resident of the Baton Rouge area. Marion dedicated many years of service as a Plant Operator in Operations and Safety at Texaco Refinery, later Motiva Refinery. Marion was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He cherished time spent with his family and that held a special place in his heart. His wit, generosity and charisma for those that knew him will always be remembered and never forgotten.
He is survived by his daughters, Deborah M. Babin and husband, Russ, and Kellie M. Nickens and husband, Jeff;his four grandchildren, Kylie Villar, Austin Babin, Evan Babin, and Mason Nickens; and his three great-grandchildren;Cash Villar, Levi Bruce, and Averi Bruce. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph B. Modicut, Sr. and Josephine S. Modicut; and his siblings, Mary M. Giammerse , Effie Umbehagen, Anne Hennigan, Sarah Nola, Theresa Gueho, Joseph B. Modicut, Jr., and Donnie Modicut.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Pinnacle Hospice, the dedicated staff of Our Lady of the Lake, Dr. Richard Cooley. Along with Melanie Howell for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness shown to Marion during the time she cared for him.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Joseph Nola, Colby Villar, Mason Nickens, Brent Gueho, A.J. Nola, Michael Bruce, Mark Modicut, and Todd Modicut. Honorary Pallbearers are Bubba Nola, Johnny DeArmond, and Glynn Nola.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the burial to follow at Prairieville Cemetery in Prairieville, LA.
