

A lifelong resident of Burnside, Marion Martine Roques passed away at home May 4, 2017. She was born December 23, 1924, the first child of Charles A. and Lillian Martine. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Maurice J. Roques; sons Charles, Roderick (Mara Lee Morgan), Peter (Debbie), John (Betsy) and David (Jada Mayon) Roques; son-in-law Joey Matassa; daughters Marion “DeeDee” Nettles (Ronald), Mary Noel (Steven) & Anne Bergeron (Barry); grandchildren Ned (Heather), Ryan (Bea), Ashley, Brett (Amanda), Clint, Emily & Elizabeth Roques, Aron (Carrie) & James (Bonnie) Matassa, Lauren Josephs (Mark) , Sally Braud (Martin), Bess Melancon (Clinton), Willie Nettles, Terri Watson (Brad), Becky Davis (Steven), Daniel (Kimberly) & Patrick (Keri Grant) Noel; Adriane Faulkner (Brandon), Alison Bergeron, Katie Blank(Bryant); 22 great-grandchildren; sisters Frances & Clementine Martine, Agnes Schexnaydre; sisters-in-law Theresa Miley & Nancy Roques; brothers-in-law James Coerver & Nelson Roques (Bea). She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Christine Matassa; parents in-law Aline and Alban Roques; sisters Rose Mary Coerver and Marie Teresa Martine, sisters-in- law Sr. Mary Juliana & Irene (Nolan) Bourgeois; brothers- in-law Alban Jr., Theophile (Linda), Pascal (Lucille) & Achille (Ann) Roques & Nolte Schexnaydre. Visitation to be held Monday, May 8 from 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Darrow. Burial at Ascension Catholic Mausoleum in Donaldsonville. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. She was a devout Catholic who loved and nurtured living things.
